The Best National Parks To Visit While Touring Nevada

While Nevada may not have tall redwood trees as you would find in California, there are national parks that are worth visiting. The setting is going to be very different, one that focuses more upon desert terrain and rock formations. Some of these are very beautiful, and if you have never been there before, you should consider visiting a few of them while you are there. It is recommended that you start with Red Rock Canyon National conservation area right outside of Las Vegas, and then head over to Overton where you can see the Valley of the Fire State Park

Red Rock Canyon

One of the reasons that this is so incredibly popular is because there are so many things you can do. Not only is the scenery beautiful, it is expensive. You can take a horseback ride to the area, or simply do a little hiking. There are also tours where you can take ATVs and 4 x 4 vehicles that will allow you to see much more of the terrain in a shorter period of time. The fastest way to experience this canyon is to take a helicopter ride, or perhaps a plane ride that will give you an aerial tour. Once you are done there, you can then head to the most northern part of Lake Mead to a city called Overton.

Valley of Fire State Park

This is a very unique place with absolutely incredible rock formations. They are very similar, yet in a different way, to what you will see in Bryce Canyon in Utah. There are hiking tours that you can take, and many other excursions, that will show you some of the incredible rock formations that are in this area. It is clear, like many of the formations that you will see in Utah and Arizona that this area was completely underwater. It’s a beautiful sight to see, and if you have the time to spend, definitely see this State Park on your journeys through Nevada.

These are just two of the many places that you can see that have exceptional sites, and there are many more that you can visit as you drive through Nevada. Just make sure that you are traveling during a time where temperatures are not over 100° or it could be a very difficult trip. At the very least, visit one of them and once you are done, you will see why so many people love these particular areas of this state.
